INTRODUCTION
Not every race is about reaching the finish line first. Some races are about how long you can keep moving.
Welcome to Projek Hijo Endurance Run — a collection of timed and looping endurance events created for runners who want to go beyond the conventional race format.
Here, distance is not always the goal.
Time is.
Run one loop.
Run ten.
Keep moving until the clock says stop.
From the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s last remaining urban forest, and now to the endurance playground of Sendayan, each event offers a different way to discover how far you can really go.
Born from the idea that endurance is measured not only in kilometres, but in time, Watermelon Sandglass Ultra (WMSG Ultra) was created as a timed looping challenge where runners could decide just how far they wanted to push themselves.
The event became one of Projek Hijo’s early endurance experiments, bringing together runners in a format where the clock — rather than a fixed finishing distance — became the ultimate challenge.
The hourglass runs.
You keep moving.
WMSG Ultra is taking a pause in 2026.
But the sand has not run out.
We look forward to seeing where the next chapter takes WMSG Ultra in the years ahead.
Imagine running an endurance race in the middle of Kuala Lumpur — surrounded by trees, wildlife and the sounds of the forest, while skyscrapers rise just beyond the canopy.
That’s KL Forest Eco Park Endurance (KLFEPE).
Set within and around the historic Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, one of Malaysia’s oldest gazetted forest reserves, KLFEPE transforms an urban green sanctuary into a unique endurance playground.
The concept is simple:
Run the loop.
Manage your time.
Go as far as you can.
With timed formats ranging from shorter challenges to 12-hour endurance, KLFEPE gives runners the freedom to determine their own limits. The event has also been part of Projek Hijo’s efforts to connect running with environmental awareness, including collaboration with the Jabatan Perhutanan Wilayah Persekutuan.
KLFEPE is taking a break in 2026.
The forest remains.
And perhaps, one day, the runners will return.
The newest addition to the Projek Hijo Endurance Run family takes endurance running to Sendayan.
Sendayan Endurance Run (SERUN) is built around one simple idea:
One loop.
One clock.
As many kilometres as you dare.
The course measures 6.706 km per loop — the same official loop that will be used later that evening for the Malaysia Backyard Ultra World Team Championship 2026.
But before Malaysia takes on the world, the loop belongs to you.
Choose your challenge:
6.7 KM FUN RUN
One loop. Enjoy the course.
3 HOURS
How many loops can you complete?
6 HOURS
Find your rhythm. Stay consistent.
9 HOURS
Push through the entire endurance window.
From 8.00 AM to 5.00 PM, runners will have the opportunity to experience the loop, test their pacing and discover how far they can go.
Then, as the sun goes down, the same course will take on a very different meaning.
At 8.00 PM, Malaysia’s Backyard Ultra team will step onto the loop to represent the nation on the world stage.
You can watch them.
But first —
Run it yourself.
WMSG Ultra.
KL Forest Eco Park Endurance.
Sendayan Endurance Run.
Different places.
Different courses.
Different challenges.
But one common idea:
Endurance is not about how fast you start.
It’s about how long you can keep going.
Somewhere between the first loop and the final one, you discover something about yourself.
How you pace.
How you suffer.
How you recover.
How you keep moving when stopping would be easier.
That is what Projek Hijo Endurance Run is all about.
Don’t chase the distance.
Chase the next loop.
